The Segway Max G3 Plus is finally official… at least for the U.S. market. Following the success of the Segway Ninebot Max G3, launched in 2025, Segway is preparing a new evolution of its flagship MAX Series with more power, longer range, and several upgrades designed to make the riding experience even better.
In this article, we exclusively reveal all the known specifications of the new Segway Max G3 Plus and compare them with the current Segway Ninebot Max G3.
Segway Max G3: A Benchmark Since 2025
Since its release in 2025, the Segway Ninebot Max G3 has established itself as one of the leading electric scooters on the market.
With up to 2,000 W of peak motor power, up to 80 km of range, 11-inch self-sealing tubeless tires, an IPX6 water resistance rating, dual hydraulic suspension, and ultra-fast charging, it offers one of the best combinations of performance, comfort, and reliability available today.
Its elegant design, premium build quality, and exceptional riding experience have made it, for many Riders, one of the best electric scooters currently available.
But Segway clearly isn’t stopping there.
What Is Segway Preparing with the New Segway Max G3 Plus?
With the Segway Max G3 Plus, Segway isn’t trying to reinvent a platform that has already proven itself. Instead, the company is refining nearly every aspect that made the Max G3 so successful.
The philosophy remains the same: deliver a comfortable, reliable, and powerful commuter scooter while introducing meaningful technical improvements that enhance the overall riding experience.
This new generation brings more power, greater range, enhanced safety, an upgraded braking system, a smarter TFT display, and several new software features.
On paper, the Max G3 Plus looks like a very well-executed evolution of the already excellent Max G3.
Let’s take a closer look.
More Power: 2,200 W
The first major upgrade is the motor.
While the current Segway Ninebot Max G3 already delivers an impressive 2,000 W of peak power, the new Segway Max G3 Plus raises that figure to 2,200 W.
This additional power should provide even stronger acceleration while making hill climbing easier.
Segway also introduces a brand-new Boost Mode capable of accelerating from 0 to 24 km/h in just 2.4 seconds, an impressive figure for a scooter primarily designed for everyday commuting.
In the United States, the maximum speed reaches approximately 45 km/h.
If a European version is eventually released, it will almost certainly be limited to 25 km/h to comply with current European regulations.
Range Increases from 80 km to 90 km
Battery range also receives a noticeable improvement.
The Segway Max G3 Plus features a larger 717 Wh battery combined with the latest generation of SegRange™ technology, developed by Segway to maximize energy efficiency.
While the current Segway Max G3 offers up to 80 km of maximum range, the new Max G3 Plus now reaches up to 90 km in Eco mode.
Those extra 10 kilometers will allow daily commuters to ride longer between charging sessions.
Segway also provides estimated range depending on the selected riding mode:
- Around 35 km in Sport+ mode
- Around 45 km in Sport mode
- Around 58 km in Drive mode
- Up to 90 km in Eco mode
As always, real-world range will depend on rider weight, terrain, weather conditions, tire pressure, and riding style.
New 140 mm Brake Rotors: The Biggest Upgrade
If there is one feature that truly stands out on the new Segway Max G3 Plus, it is undoubtedly the braking system.
The current Segway Ninebot Max G3 already features 120 mm brake rotors paired with dual-piston calipers, offering excellent braking performance that ranks among the best in its category.
However, Segway pushes things even further with the Max G3 Plus.
The company introduces new ventilated 140 mm brake rotors, increasing the rotor diameter by 20 mm compared to the standard Max G3.
This is a significant improvement.
Larger brake rotors provide greater braking surface, resulting in stronger and more consistent stopping power. They also dissipate heat much more efficiently during repeated braking, helping maintain performance on long descents or during intensive riding.
Brake pads also operate under better conditions, improving wear consistency and overall braking feel.
In addition, the Max G3 Plus introduces the new Intelligent Combined Braking System (ICBS), which intelligently combines mechanical braking with regenerative braking.
According to Segway, this new braking system reduces braking distance by up to 15%.
For Riders who commute daily or regularly ride through hilly terrain, this represents a genuine improvement in both performance and safety.
In our opinion, this is the most significant upgrade introduced on the Segway Max G3 Plus.
The Same Outstanding Hydraulic Suspension
One of the Max G3’s greatest strengths remains unchanged.
The Segway Max G3 Plus continues to feature a full hydraulic suspension system that delivers excellent comfort both in urban environments and on rougher roads.
It effectively absorbs vibrations while helping keep both wheels in contact with the ground, improving stability and overall riding confidence.
Combined with the large 11-inch tires, the suspension continues to deliver the smooth and comfortable ride that has made the MAX Series so popular.
The Famous 11-Inch Self-Sealing Tires Remain
Another piece of good news is that Segway keeps its excellent self-sealing tires.
The Segway Max G3 Plus continues using 11-inch tubeless tires with an integrated jelly layer capable of automatically sealing punctures up to 4 mm in diameter.
These tires provide excellent grip, impressive riding comfort, and significantly reduce the likelihood of punctures during daily commuting.
They also contribute to the scooter’s excellent stability, especially at higher speeds.
A Smarter 2.4-Inch TFT Display
The Max G3 Plus also receives an upgraded 2.4-inch color TFT smart display.
The new display now integrates GPS navigation directly on the scooter while also showing speed, battery level, riding mode, trip distance, and even the estimated remaining charging time.
The result is a far more connected riding experience without constantly relying on a smartphone.
Fast Charging Remains One of Its Biggest Strengths
Fast charging continues to be one of the strongest advantages of the MAX Series.
Like the current Max G3, the charger is fully integrated into the scooter.
This means riders only need to plug in a standard power cable without carrying an external charging brick.
Segway estimates approximately 4 hours for a complete charge using the built-in charger, or only 3 hours when using a second charger simultaneously.
Even Better Safety Features
Segway also continues improving rider safety.
The Max G3 Plus features a new automatic 430-lumen headlight capable of illuminating the road up to approximately 35 meters ahead.
It also introduces dedicated rear turn signals in addition to the handlebar-integrated indicators already found on previous models.
An under-deck ambient light also makes its debut, while Segway’s Traction Control System (TCS) further improves grip on wet or slippery roads.
The scooter retains its IPX6 water resistance rating, while the battery pack continues to benefit from IPX7 protection.
A Smarter Battery Management System
The Max G3 Plus introduces Segway’s brand-new BMS 2.0 battery management system.
This new generation allows riders to monitor charging progress in real time, check battery health, schedule charging sessions, and benefit from enhanced protection against overvoltage, short circuits, overcurrent, overheating, and overcharging.
The objective is simple: maximize battery lifespan while maintaining consistent performance over many years.
A More Connected Segway Mobility App
Segway is also expanding the capabilities of its mobile application.
Users can now upload up to four seconds of custom sound effects that can be played directly from the scooter using a dedicated button or by double-tapping the brake while parked.
It’s an original feature that complements the already extensive functionality offered by the Segway Mobility App.
Only $100 More Than the Max G3
Another pleasant surprise is the pricing.
In the United States, the current Segway Ninebot Max G3 is listed at $1,049, while the new Segway Max G3 Plus launches at $1,149.
That represents only a $100 difference between the two models.
Considering the number of improvements introduced, the price increase appears remarkably reasonable.
For just one hundred dollars more, buyers receive:

Will the Segway Max G3 Plus Be Available in Europe?
At the moment, the Segway Max G3 Plus is exclusively intended for the U.S. market.
Segway has not yet announced any plans regarding a European release.

With the Max G3 Plus, Segway successfully improves a platform that was already considered one of the best commuter electric scooters available.
The new model delivers more power, longer range, a larger battery, a smarter display, improved connectivity, and several meaningful safety enhancements.
However, the most impressive upgrade is undoubtedly the completely redesigned braking system. The combination of new 140 mm ventilated brake rotors and the Intelligent Combined Braking System represents a major step forward in both braking performance and rider safety.
